The Honickman Foundation has supported a number of organizations and initiatives throughout its 15 years in operation, focusing its efforts primarily on underserved women's and social issues. THF has provided financial support and volunteer services to: The Jefferson – Honickman Breast Care Center
The Jefferson-Honickman Breast Imaging Center, located on the newly renovated fourth floor at 1100 Walnut Street in Philadelphia, opened its doors on January 23, 2007. The new breast care center consolidates breast imaging and treatment into a patient-centered facility that is personalized and private. The Center features state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained clinicians. Jefferson-Honickman Breast Imaging also contains a stereotactic core biopsy unit with digital imaging capability and three high-resolution breast ultrasound units. THF Support of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital InitiativesCurrently THF is advancing four important initiatives at Philadelphia's Thomas Jefferson University Hospital: The Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine, The Foundation for Melanoma Research, The Jefferson Stroke Center, and the Jefferson Ultrasound Institute Training Program.MANNA (Metropolitan AIDS Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance)AIDS represents a condition with devastating consequence, which twenty-five years later, is still unresolved and at epidemic levels in parts of the world. Certainly, this disease and its ramifications are deserving of a loud, clear call to conscience and action. Extending support to the nutritional well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS, THF commits resources to Philadelphia-based MANNA. Modeled after New York's God's Love We Deliver (an effort THF helped develop in its first 12 years), MANNA prepares and delivers high-quality, nutritional meals to the homebound living with HIV/AIDS. MANNA also promotes understanding of HIV/AIDS wellness through nutritional education and counseling.Richard Keaveney was recently named Executive Director of MANNA. Richard is chairman of Toppers Salon and Health Spa, Inc., a regional chain of day spas and retail stores in the Philadelphia area. After turning over the daily operation of the company to the President and CEO in 2003, Keaveney has become increasingly more involved with MANNA's mission. Since Richard joined the board in 1997, he has served as chair of the Resource Development Committee, the Management Oversight Committee and was elected Chairman of the Board in February 2002. Mr. Keaveney's responsibilities now include managing MANNA's $3 million budget, assuring the continued nutritional services MANNA provides to individual and families living with HIV/AIDS in 11 counties of the tri-state region, overseeing the volunteer program, providing leadership to a resource development program, the overall management of the MANNA staff, and overseeing the operation of MANNA Catering, Inc., a for-profit subsidiary of the non-profit organization. "As president of MANNA's advisory board, I view Richard Keaveney's appointment as a home-run for the organization", says Steven Korman, of Korman Properties. "He has a passion for the mission and the entrepreneurial experience needed to lead the organization into the future." THF has also supported other AIDS organizations including: Incarnation Children's Center, International Family AIDS Program/Columbia University, St. Mary's Family Respite Center, and most recently, Sparrow Ministries. |
